The American Film Institute has just released its list of the best movies and television shows of 2024, with plenty of recent or yet-to-be-released films making the list. What’s most interesting about this list released by the Institute is that the majority of films — aside from big blockbuster releases like Dune: Part Two and Wicked — are smaller independent film releases. On the list of the best television series of 2024, streaming favorites such as Shōgun and The Bear are top picks, along with the more recently released Netflix series by The Good Place creator Michael Shur, titled A Man on the Inside.
