A groundbreaking sci-fi drama that pushed the industry’s boundaries in 2013 was almost stopped by Hollywood giants David Fincher and James Cameron. At least, that’s what would have happened if the director behind the movie in question, Gravity, had followed their advice when he told them the idea for the then “impossible-to-make” film. Coming courtesy of Deadline, Alfonso Cuarn took the opportunity to speak about the early days of Gravity’s conception when he took the stage during a masterclass at Locarno Film Festival. When he discussed some of his widely known projects, Cuarn addressed how Fincher and Cameron were hesitant to believe he could pull off such an ambitious science fiction film.
