A few high-profile summer movies have secured Chinese release dates, despite concerns that the trade war between the United States and China, instigated by Donald Trump, may affect the number of American blockbusters released in the country. Since China increased the number of American films that could be screened in the country, they have become a vital component to the success of some of the biggest Hollywood franchises, as this led to many of the $1 billion-grossing hits of the late 2010s.
