Jeremy Renner Addresses His Mission: Impossible Exit and Potential Franchise Return

Jeremy Renner has explained why he stepped away from the Mission: Impossible franchise after 2015’s Rogue Nation, and also addressed whether he would consider returning in the future. After securing an Oscar nomination for his leading role in The Hurt Locker, Renner found himself turning into a hot commodity. After picking up another nomination for Ben Affleck’s The Town, Renner joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Clint Barton/Hawkeye, beginning with a cameo appearance in 2011’s Thor. Also in 2011, the actor made his debut in another franchise when he took on the role of William Brandt in Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol. Renner returned for 2015’s Rogue Nation but has not been seen in the franchise since that appearance.
